Expert systems for the correlation and filtering of events (A.I.D.)

The implementation of Automatic Incident Detection systems has shown that, in critical conditions, the number of detected events is quite high: with the growing number of road or motorway stretches monitored and with heavy traffic conditions, hundreds of events per hour have been properly detected by the video analysis techniques used.

Through a cooperation with University of Milano Bicocca, Project Automation has designed and developed a special Heuristic Events Correlation Model, based on Artificial Intelligence techniques. It is an expert software module based on rules and able to learn which traffic scenarios represent an anomaly and which the normal traffic flow.

Thanks to the Heuristic Model of Events Correlation, the operators in the control centres are alerted only when actually useful data is available for an efficient and immediate service, related to the capacity to trigger targeted actions in really relevant situations, such as incidents or blocks to the circulation.
